Three days before the 46th commemoration of Marcos’ declaration of martial law nationwide, members of underground revolutionary organization Malayang Kilusan ng Bagong Kababaihan (MAKIBAKA) staged a ten-minute demonstration along Recto Avenue in Manila to urge women to participate in revolutionary armed struggle in the countryside.
Masked revolutionary women, calling Duterte a ‘macho-fascist’, condemned the president’s various ‘anti-people’ measures and ‘misogynistic behavior’: Oplan Tokhang; Oplan Kapayapaan; the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law; lack of decent jobs; attacks on Lumad schools and indigenous peoples; and countless jokes and tirades against women.
“Ang giyera ni Duterte ay giyera laban sa mamamayan kaya ang tugon ng kababaihan ay pakikibaka laban sa mapang-api, mapang-abuso, diktador, pasista, macho-pasista, kontra-rebolusyonaryong rehimeng US – Duterte,” MAKIBAKA said in a statement.
(Duterte’s war is a war against the people, and that is why the women’s response is to fight against the oppressive, abusive, dictator, tyrant, macho-fascist, counter-revolutionary US – Duterte.)
