Altermidya condemns in strongest terms the arrest of our colleague, Anne Krueger of Negros-based community media outfit Paghimutad. Kreuger is named in the search warrant issued by a Quezon City local court that was used to justify the raids in offices of several organizations in Bacolod.
Paghimutad, a new member of Altermidya Network, has been documenting and reporting on the de facto martial rule in Negros island.
We deem that the arrest of Kreuger is meant to hide the truth from the public. A few minutes before she was arrested, Kreuger went on Facebook to document the search, exposing the irregularities in the operations undertaken by authorities.
Altermidya demands the immediate release of Kreuger and the dismissal of any charges against her.
Kreuger is also an organizer for the BPO Industry Employees’ Network or BIEN.
